There are any number of causes for this. Please go to Microsoft's Technet at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;EN-US;kbhowto&sd=TECH&ln=EN-US&FR=0 Choose Word 97 as the product, and type "do you want to make a copy" into the keywords area.
