Where can i find illustrated step by step instructions to string a
classical guitar using the "figure 8" method?

A problem, which presumably skermit-ga ran into as well, is that the
"figure 8" or "figure eight" method does not seem to be a common way
of describing how to string a classical guitar (though it is certainly
not unheard of).

The only description of the method I found does not contain pictures:

"Classical Guitar Strings - How to String Your Classical Guitar," by
Greigg Fraser
CleverJoe's Musician's Resource Centre
http://www.cleverjoe.com/articles/how-to-string-a-classical-guitar.html

I've also found three articles that do not mention the figure 8 method
but do contain illustrations:

"Stringing Method Tutorial" (Feb. 18, 2001)
Schramm Guitars
http://schrammguitars.com/tutorial.html

"5 Steps to Re-Stringing Your Classical Guitar" (Article first
appeared in guitar techniques 1999, adapted from original text by Ben
Bartlett / photography: Justin Scobie)
StringsDirect
http://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/howtostring.php#classical

"Restring Your Guitar," by Frank Ford (Feb. 24, 1998)
Frets.com
http://www.frets.com/FRETSPages/Musician/Guitar/Setup/Classical/ClassicStr/classicstr1.html

My suggestion is that if skermit answered your question, then you
should let him repost his comment as an answer. Alternatively, if I
answered your question, I would be happy to repost my comment as an
answer.

to CLARIFY the question, in short:
i want to find something like what is located at:
http://schrammguitars.com/tutorial.html

only for the "figure 8" method, rather than for the "letter D" method.

---
to explain more in depth...

i have read the instructions at:
http://www.cleverjoe.com/articles/how-to-string-a-classical-guitar.html

i find them to be HELPFUL, but ambiguous at several points. this page
is actually what prompted me to ask the question, and the reason why i
desire illustration.

the site which skermit-ga suggested, namely:
http://www.stringthis.com/howtostringu.html

is NOT HELPFUL at all. i'm concerned about the bridge of the classical
guitar, not the tuning pegs; every guitarist knows how to attach
strings to tuning pegs.

the site:
http://schrammguitars.com/tutorial.html

is HELPFUL; however, it illustrates the "Letter D" method; while this
is a more common method to string a classical guitar, it causes the
guitar to lose tuning more often than the figure 8 method.

Dear dijjnn,

I think what you may be looking for is at www.frets.com

http://www.frets.com/FRETSPages/Musician/Guitar/Setup/Classical/ClassicStr/classicstr1.html

They seem to use the "letter D" method for the bass strings and a
"figure 8" for the treble strings. The difference seems to be the
number of times the string is looped around itself. They even
recommend a triple loop to prevent slippage on carbon composite treble
strings.

I would be happy to continue to search if this is not satisfactory.

pretty good. i was hoping that someone would go beyond what they
could find immediately on the web (as i had already seen most of it),
but of course $2 isn't really enough to justify that.
