What is the current status of the federal court case recently filed by the Milberg Weiss law firm seeking to enforce its copyrights in complaints it files in court cases? In other words has the infringment case been dismissed or is it still pending? |

I'm not finding that a case has been filed. A February 2004 law journal article ( http://home.law.uiuc.edu/~ribstein/Ribsteinclassactionlawyersaslawmakers.pdf ) implies that such a suit would be unsuccessful "because of due process concerns for public access to the law". If a lawsuit had been filed, this article would probably have mentioned it. Instead, it only refers to Milberg Weiss's cease-and-desist letters. A search for "Milberg Weiss" "copyright infringement" complaints federal doesn't turn up any relevant lawsuits, and a Google News search for "Milberg Weiss" copyright returned zero news stories -- if anything's happened in the last month or so, I'd expect to see some news about it. |
