I am looking for public domain works of classic literature by African, Indian, Asian and Middle Eastern authors. Basically, I am looking to fill in the gaps in those "Best Novels of All Time" lists which favor Europeans and North Americans. The works must be in the public domain and should be easily identifiable by readers in those regional categories. For example, if I had asked the same question about Mexican authors, one answer might be Sor Juana's "Dream" or "Respuesta." If I had asked the question about French authors, one answer might be Victor Hugo's "Hunchback of Notre Dame" or "Les Miserables." In both cases, the authors are famous in their own countries and their works are old enough to be in the public domain. I do not care if the authors are not well known outside of their respective region. And if an author has many titles, please indicate the best known example. |

Hi cyan There is a site on the internet called "projectgutenberg" (I think, or something similar - Goggle the name and see) that allows downloads of works in the public domain. Give them a try. anvil19 |
