I am trying to find sales figures and earnings for character and brand
merchandising from shows like "Bob the Builder" or the "Teletubbies"
to "Ice Age". I can't seem to find any earnings reports on how these
brands performed. Can you help?

Hi there,

The Annual Report of BBC Worldwide (
http://www.bbcworldwide.com/review/childrens.html ) lists in their
Children's section that the Teletubbies brand has generated £116m
revenue since its launch.

"In the UK nearly half a million Teletubbies videos were snapped up
during the year, bringing the all-time figure to 3.6m. The books still
prove to be great favourites, with sales of nearly 400,000. A total of
4.7m Teletubbies books have now been sold in this country."

As for Bob the Builder, BBC Worldwide has UK book and magazine rights
along with worldwide multimedia rights. "Bob celebrated his second
birthday with sales of more than 120,000 magazines every month, and
more than 800,000 books."

The British Television Distributors Association's (
www.btda.org/images/news/btda%2012%20june%202002.pdf ) annual TV
report statistics for 2001, broken down by country, shows that sales
to the US have jumped 19.2% in 2001 due primarily to two popular
properties: Bob the Builder and The Missing Link.

www.eileenbiz.com/kids-musicland-red-blue.pdf has some interesting
numbers as well.

Search Strategy:

"sales figures teletubbies"
"sales earnings bob builder"

I hope this helps you. Please feel free to ask for clarification if
necessary.
