Hello.

In May 2004, an average of about 15,962,000 barrels of crude oil were
used every day. About 1/3rd of that oil (4,670,000 barrels) was
domestically produced in Alaska and lower 48 states. The other 2/3rds
of the oil was imported.

From the U.S. Department of Energy:

Crude Oil - May 2004
(Thousand of Barrels per Day)
-----------------------
Alaska 942
Lower 48 States 4,670
                 -----
Total U.S 5,612

Imports (Net) 10,298

Other sources 52
                ------
Total Crude Input
To Refineries 15,962

Wow!

I never realised the UK exported oil to the US!

You will never believe what we have to pay at the pumps here ...

Wait for it ...

£4 gallon is on the horizon. That's FOUR ENGLISH POUNDS per miserable gallon.

I think I'm fainting ........

Hi Bryan, That is horrific. I just worked it out. With the english
pound/Australian dollar exchange rate at .39077, this makes four E.
pounds worth $A10.24. At per gallon or 4.2 litres, using my calc.,
10.24-:4.2 = 2.437$A per litre. $A2.437 per litre. Right now we are
paying 98c to $A1.08. Not long ago it was about 86c. We`ll have to
park the car soon. Pug.
