I'm looking for a way to setup a server to share MP3 files secured by a username/password. ie I only want to let specific people have access. An FTP server is one solution but I am looking for server software that is aware of the MP3 tag information - and provides search/browse functionality by track name, artist, album etc. Peer-to-peer software like napster, kazaa, shareaza, gnutella etc has this kind of media awareness but does not allow private access to the media collection. It would most likely use a proprietary protocol specifically for media files. Does such software exist yet? |

It's actually pretty easy to develop if it doesn't:) A simple script linked to a database would be fine. However, you're not going to get that code for $2.00. |
