1. NUMBER OF CORPORATIONS WORLDWIDE. I have numbers for the US, but
not worldwide. The corporation is the ubiquitous organizational form,
so I am trying to find some way to quantify that. This does not need
to be a comparison of organizational forms - just some raw data. I
would also like to know, if possible, the number of corporations in
different countries, or, groups of countries - Asia, G7, etc.

[so - to reiterate - none of the above is set in stone - if all you
can find are worldwide numbers, then that's great. If all you can
find are the number of corporations in the G7, that's great too. In
order of importance, the stats would be 1) Worldwide, 2) G7. ]

Ok...I've done a bunch of searching, this is needle in a haystack. I
don't need an official source, just some source that gives the number
of corporations in the world.

I've upped the price too as well since it seems to be a hard question.

Pink - thanks for the tip. Wasn't the answer, but gave me an idea for
a lexis search which brought up a few decent answers.

I changed the fee back to $10, so if you are authorized to answer,
please just put your comment as an answer and I will pay you.

If you are not pink, please do not answer this question (unless you
have a particularly good answer).

This might be of some use:

"There are over 60 million individual businesses in the world, and 25
million businesses - including 2 million farms - in the United States.
About 7 million companies are organized and chartered as corporations
or limited liability companies (LLCs), the rest being proprietorships
and partnerships. There are also around 1 million IRS-recognized
non-profit organizations. A very small percentage of the corporations
(and a very few large propiertorships and partnerships) are large
enough to afford pubicity and advertising, and warrant the attention
of national business, trade, or general publications, or otherwise
enter the world of public knowledge."
