The name of the song is "Senza Fine," and it was sung was Monica
Mancini in the opening scene of "Ghost Ship."

"Missing from the [soundtrack] album is the opening big-band song
"Senza Fine", sung by Monica Mancini (no appearance in the film),
which can be found on her 'Cinema Paradiso' album."

Additional Facts:

The song was written by Gino Paoli in 1960 and has been recorded (in
English and Italian versions) by various pop artists, including Peggy
Lee and Dean Martin.

The song was also the love theme of the 1965 film "Flight of the Phoenix."

Monica Mancini is the daughter of legendary
arranger/composer/conductor Henry Mancini.
