Does anyone knows the cost level for medical inpatient treatments in
US hospitals ? (I know it's a very large field, as there are many
hospitals out there and even more different treatments, but I need a
general overview of the market to compare the cost levels agains the
ones in Europe). If the scope of the question is too large, then let's
focus on Urological Treatments (e.g. Removal of Testicle due to
Cancer, etc) or Orthopaedics (e.g. Spine).

Could you clarify what you're looking for as an answer?

Do you want total, overall costs (e.g. In the US, patients spend $75.2
bazillion a year on in-patient health care).?

Or are you looking for a list of individual treatments and their
associated costs? And if so, do you want total, national costs per
year, or something else?

Thanks.

Well, I'm looking for cost per type of treatment, like the ones
classified by the Australian Diagnostic Related Groups (DRG). For
example:

- Mitral valve OP at open heart, including anaethesy, vene bypass
using heart lung machine, 10 days in hospital, 2 days ICU, no
complications ? Answer: USD 25.000,00.
- Heart transplantation OP, including Iron Heart Transplant, vene
bypass using heart lung machine, anesthesists, 25 days in hospital, 7
days in ICU, all lab costs included, no complications USD 47.000,00
- Heart catheter analysis and inclusion of one stent, including
anesthesist, 4 days at hospital USD 6.000,00
- Complex Gastroscopy with Catastrophic or Severe CC USD 8.600,00
without Catastrophic or Severe CC USD 4.100,00
		      Sameday USD 1.200,00

PS: Insurances probably have 20-30% discounts due to their bargaining power.

(the information given above is fictionary)

Hope this helps,
medtommy
