Dear Sir or Madam,

I want to download the latest ISO images from the website of
FreeBSD.org, Red Hat Fedora, Slackware and possibly Suse. I am having
difficulty locating a software package that runs on windows which
would allow me to take a downloaded ISO image, extract or convert the
data, burn it to a CD and make that CD bootable.

Please advise. I have used Roxio Easy CD Creator and Nero OEM Suite 6
and neither can accomplish this.

I hope you can assist me.

Thank you

Steve...

I'm not familiar with Nero OEM Suite 6, but most versions
of Nero come with Nero Express, which I've used to manage
the task you're describing.

In Nero Express, you just click on Disc Image or Saved Project
on the main page, and then use the 'Files of type' drop-down
menu in the file open dialog box to select '.iso' as the filetype.
It will actually say 'Image Files (*.nrg;*.iso;*.cue). Select that
and navigate to the location of your ISO file, and proceed from
there.

Even if you don't have Nero Express, the programs you have
should offer a similar option.

Let me know where this takes you...

I attempted to use Nero and it did not work.
The biggest issue is not recording the ISO image to CD but how can I
make that CD bootable?

Hi Steve...

You don't need to do anything special to make the CD bootable.
If the ISO image is an image of a bootable CD, then the CD will
boot, as long as you have your computer set up to boot from CD
in the BIOS options.

Hi:
It is very simple using Easy CD creator. Load up Easy CD Creator and
chooose the following option:
File => Record from CD Image => you get a file choosing Window =>
select .ISO ( ISO files) from the File types selection => Click
through the file selection until you get your ISO image that you have
downloaded => You get the CD Recording menu - Select # of Copies,
Record CD Option, Record Method - Disk at Once => Click on Start
Recording.
You should now be able to record ISO images...let me know if you have more problems.
