Oribas,
When you say "Spanish writers", do you mean strictly from Spain? Are
you interested in Latin American writers as well? Do you want poets as
well?

Sincerely,
crabcakes

Saludos oribas,

I have compiled a list of Spanish writers, from Spain, who were
born and died in the time span of 1600-1920. If you check the web
sites I have included, you will see there are a few more writers that
I have not included- either because of ambiguous dates of birth/death,
or no dates of birth/death listed.

There are a few additional authors, who were born before 1600, but
died after 1600, such as:

Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra 1547-1616
http://encarta.msn.com/encyclopedia_761563857/Miguel_de_Cervantes_Saavedra.html

Lope Félix de Vega Carpio 1562-1635
http://www.imagi-nation.com/moonstruck/clsc33.html

Vicente Blasco Ibáñez was born in 1867, however, he died in 1928, 8
years after your timeframe limit.

Hi again oribas,
While I feel certain there were scientists in Spain from 1600-1920,
I have found only the following:

FEDERICO RUBIO Y GALÍ 1827-1902 -- Surgical techniques
http://www.us.es/facmed/hist.htm

Urbano Gonzalez-Serrano, 1848-1904 Psychophysics

Ramon Turró 1854-1926, biologist and philosopher

http://www.ucm.es/info/Psyap/hispania/helio07.htm

Also a few years after your required timespan, but very notable:
Dr. Santiago Ramón y Cajal 1852-1934
In 1906 he shared the Nobel Prize with Dr. Camillo Golgi for
discovering the processes of neruons of the cerebellar cortex.
http://www.nobel.se/medicine/articles/cajal/

Not a scientist, but a Spanish invention: a 19th century amputation saw.

I'll be happy to continue to search, should you need more than this.
Simply use the Answer Clarification button, to advise me.
