I need to figure out what notes are played by the horn section on the
Blues Brothers album "Briefcase Full of Blues." These notes would
ideally be given for each instrument (alto sax, tenor sax, trumpet,
trombone) but it would also be acceptable if just the notes were
given, or even just the top note of each.

The horn section played mostly "back-ups," that is, short phrases
behind the lyrics. It is not necessary to obtain transcriptions of any
improvised solos (although this would certainly be of interest.)

The Blues Brothers Band performed "cover" tunes; that is, tunes that
had been made famous by blues bands that came before. Therefore, it
might be possible to get the horn notes from sheet music based on the
original bands.

The ideal answer would be a pointer to a book, or sheet music
publication, or "fake book" or other unauthorized transcription that
gives the horn back-up lines.

Another possible answer would be the name of a person or service who
will transcribe notes from recordings. This is difficult to do, even
for an experienced musician, and would probably require someone with
special equipment, e.g. a tape player (or digital equivalent) that has
the ability to play back in slow motion without distorting the pitch
of the notes.

The songs on the album are:
Hey Bartender
Messin' With The Kid
Almost
Rubber Biscuit
Shotgun Blues
Groove Me
I Don't Know
Soul Man
'B' Movie Box Car Blues
Flip, Flop & Fly

There is no answer at this time.

I'm not a Google researcher, but forwarded your question to a friend
of mine, whose boyfriend is Alan "Mr. Fabulous" Rubin -- trumpet
player in the Blues Brothers Band.

I was hoping he'd say, "Sure, here are the charts!" But alas, no. My
friend wrote back that "Alan suggests you take serious music lessons
and learn how to transcribe the parts for yourself from the
record...otherwise be prepared to pay thousands of dollars to have the
 transcriptions done for you."

Not much help, I'm afraid. But I tried!
