Question ID: 394579
I have a Windows 98 operating system and outlook express. When I
receive an email with a digital attachment, sometimes it is too large
to copy on regular paper resulting in maybe 60 or 70% of original
being copied. Is there a way I can reduce the printing size of an
incoming image. My copier will only reduce something that is to be
scanned, not an image via email. Thanks, Bob.

What software do you use to print the attachment? What is your printer?

I have a HP psc 950 all-in-one printer,fax,scanner,copier. The
software came with it. I can reduce, enlarge, etc anything that is
originated at the printer. It is the printing of an email attachment
coming to me that I am having trouble with. Thanks.

I understand. I'd like to know the software or program you use when
printing attachments. Do you use Outlook Express to print the
attachment or do you use another program? Does the printer
automatically print whenever you receive email attachments?

I use outlook express. My printer does not print automatically. I
have to engage it.

In Outlook Express, have you tried changing your printing preferences
before printing any attachment? There should be a printing option
called "fit to page". This option is also called as "fit to paper",
"reduce/enlarge". Set your printer using this option. Please let me
know if it solved the problem.

Where do you find the printing options for Outlook Express? I have
never seen such and it is not under Edit, View, Tools, etc.

Sorry about that. Under File>Print... or you can press Ctrl+P

File>Print brings up what I normally use to select Page #'s, # of
copies, etc. The only thing on that page that in any way seems to
relate to sizing is a box untitled "Print Frames" w/ a choice of: "As
laid out on screen" "Only the selected frame" and "All frames
individually". All of these are grayed out and not changeable.

Thank you. I do not know how to bring up "fit-to-page". Can you help? Thanks.

Your comment worked perfectly. Since it came in as a comment and not
an answer, I am unable to figure out how to "Rate the Answer" and
authorize payment, which I would like to do. Let me know how and I
will do so. Thanks.

What software do you have installed? Try getting a program like
Irfanview from www.irfanview.com and resize the graphic before
printing...

right click on the picture, and then 'save picture as...', be carefule
to remember where you save it. then open the software your scaner
sends the scaned picturees to, under file you will see the open comand
find the picture you just saved and open it, then resize it just as
you would if it was a scanned picture
