My shower has three plexiglass sides. For the last six months or so I have been using "Tilex Fresh Shower" every day. I now seem to have "etching" or something on all the surfaces. Is there a product (polish?) that will get rid of this (other than stopping the use of Tilex which I have done!)? |

You might try a reconditioning product: http://www.vandykes.com/product/02004378/ http://www.pilotstore.com/store/item.asp?ITEM_ID=1600 |

whp-ga: Possibly the problem may be mineral deposits. Do you have hard water? Try Lime Away or equivilant product on an area, flush with water. If that works, you have a water problem, may need a water softener. As I write this, I am reading the Tilex label. There is nothing in Tilex that should affect Plexiglas. (For what it's worth, I am a chemist.) I hope you haven't been using scouring pads or scouring powder when cleaning...that would cause abrasion, which can't be fixed. But your description sound like a surface deposit. Good luck. monroe22 |

Dear whp-ga: If it is a scratch and not a deposit, I have had a great experience using a product called Novus that has three different levels of 'polish' that works well on restoring weather beaten plexiglass (as well as some accidently 'scoured' plexiglass). A pack of all three is about $10.00 and will go a long way. This is one place that carries it: http://www.airsource1.com/catalog.cgi/OIL,FILTER,WASH/POLISH-CLEANERS Cheers, |

This is very interesting to me. About 6 months ago, I, too started using Tilex on a GLASS shower surround, and now find that the glass is etched. We have a water softener....and they're not hard water deposits...not even Lime Away will take off the spotting. I'm pretty sure it's etched. Tilex doesn't say anything about not using on glass or plexiglass...but I'm starting to think their product is not as "SAFE" as they would lead you to believe. |
