I am using XP and IE 6 When I work in IE, I almost always have a few windows open. I like to work in multiple sites. The problem is (in the 2 cases noted below), when I select a new URL, it opens that web site in one of the EXISTING windows, not in a new window. When I select a link from the favorates menu, it opens it in a NEW window (this is what I want). This happens in the cases below. Case 1 - When double-clicking on a URL shortcut on the desktop, it opens the site in a EXISTING IE window. When I select a link from the favorates menu, it opens it in a NEWwindow (this is what I want). Case 2 - I had too many URLs in my Links toolbar (in IE), so I grouped them into folders (still inside the links folder). Now my link toolbar is nice and clean, with just 5 folders. When you click on a folder, it comes up with a pop-up menu and you can pick a URL. Problem is: When I select a link it opens it in an EXISTING IE window. | |

It looks like you're not the only one with this problem: "IE6 Completely fails to open new window" http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/winxp/t1021723000 The suggested solutions look ridiculously complicated, though. --brianl |

This problem occurs with XP I believe, not IE6. Or it's a combination of the two. Something like that. I've heard of it before. Very very annoying. xemion-ga |
