Hello cesq-ga,
I am taking on the question because I feel I meet your criteria. While
I am an avid computer/internet user (obviously since I am a Google
Answers Researcher), and know my way around?I know nothing more than
basic HTML. I am in my email and browsing though, 2 or 3 hours a day,
minimum.
Therefore, I will give you my opinion, since I am the demographic you want.
We will go page by page here.
http://www.flyagaric.com/
The main page. It looks a little bland, not a lot of color or anything
to suggest professional web design. Makes me wonder a bit about the
quality of the service it?s offering. ?Is it a business, or someone?s
personal page?? I ask myself. I do really think the logo is sharp
looking though. I think a bit more explanation on the main page
explaining what the service is and how it works would be good for a
first time user. For example, the Framed/Forwarded drop down menu.
I like the way the links on the left open in a new window, but it
could be caught by pop up blockers. Also, in Mozilla, (Netscape based)
a browser which I use and many people are going to, it has a thing
called tabbed browsing. With the java pop up links, you cannot open a
new tab in Mozilla, which frustrates those of us who hate IE.

?flyAgaric.com is owned and operated by Cuatro Esquinas, LLC?
This link goes nowhere. Should it?
**?Help? Linked Page**
Having the links in red could be confusing for a new computer user.
Most places make sure their links are done in blue, which seems to be
a bit of a standard, or underlined, something other than text that
just looks bold, plain. It also could be set up more on a timeline,
putting the registration process at the beginning for new users who
are having trouble with the first step. Your use of icons as reference
points with a key at the top is good however. The ?close? button at
the bottom of the JavaScript window is nice as well.
**?Hacks? Linked Page**
Very clear read. The part about the e-mail redirect would be good
front-page material and something to advertise about. Ditto for the
?track hits on other?s pages? part.
In the ?Protect your email address section? Sometimes you use mailto
and sometimes you use ?mailto.? Consistency is good. You might want to
make sure you reference the same terminology on all pages for the same
thing, for congruity.
Same for FlyAgaric.com and flyAgaric.com. The caps difference is noticeable.
Also, why is it easy to remember? In addition, fairly is misspelled.
?We?ll be the first to admit that FlyAgaric.com isn?t the shortest
domain name ever reserved. But it?s still faily short, and easy to
remember.?
**?Login? Linked Page**
Very nice, though I believe for user convenience, the login box should
be on the main page higher than it already is.
**?New user? Linked Page?
I do not like the way you have to redirect in order to create a new
user. Why not just a normal create your own login/password page? I
would much rather use my own info than remember something assigned to
me.
**?Contact us? Linked Page**
Clean, simple and nice... I like it. No fuss, no muss.
**Terms of Use? Linked page**
?From time to time CE may change these Terms of use. Your use of
flyAgric.com indicates your acceptance of the current of Terms of use.
It is the user's responsibility to read the latest Terms of use.?
A disclaimer should be at the bottom of all the pages I think. The
kind of disclaimer and/or Terms of Service link like GA uses at the
bottom of their pages. (See example below)
?Important Disclaimer: Answers and comments provided on Google Answers

the Google Answers Terms of Service.?
Something like that I think.
A tip for you would be to go click on all your links? highlight and
copy all of the text, and paste into MS Word with spelling and grammar
check turned on to their fullest. This will find you any misspellings
or grammatical errors the human eye could miss.
I am sure there is a few on each page, no matter what. We as humans
get used to missing small details like that, that is why it is best to
proofread, and best in my opinion to also have the computer proofread
that way as well. Machines catch more than humans do sometimes.
I hope this helps you out!
If this answer requires further explanation, please request
clarification before rating it, and I will be happy to look into this
further.
