Hello,

I?m looking for some data and I wonder if you can point me in the
right direction. I need to find out how High Tech companies are
allocating their marketing budgets among the various categories such
as Advertising, E-marketing, Trade Shows and Events, PR, etc...
looking for a high level benchmark.

I think that IDC may have such data, but I don?t have access.

Any ideas that can help would be appreciated.

Thank you for this info, I have seen these answers. maybe I can
clarify abit more, I'm looking for the "breakdown" of the marketing
budget among the various categories (Trade shows, PR, Ad, Promo,
etc...as in Soft letter data) but in the hardware space for someone
like say Cisco, Sun, or any BtoB hardware vendor.

Thanks again Aneelinda and Omnivorous - I appreciate your input.

looking forward to a response.

Seeker67 --

There's an enormous difference between software & service companies
and those with hardware as a significant portion of the cost-of-goods
sold. In the PC category, gross margins are often under 30%, while
Microsoft enjoys a gross margin of about 90%. There are a large
number of Google Answers that address this question, including the
excellent answer pointed out by Aneelindia-ga.

Best regards,

Omnivorous-GA
