hi,  my period stopped a few months ago. I am a 30 yr. old mother who
would like to become pregnant again, so my doc. gave me premphase to
take for a month. It's like a z-pak, there are 14 red tabs which is
premarin 0.625mg to take daily. After that another 14 blue tabs which
is medroxyprogesterone 5mg. She also gave me just premarin 0.625mg to
take daily along with it for an added boost. I do not mean to sound
vein, but for a months supply will I maybe swell and gain weight? I've
never had any experience with estrogen before, all I thought I ever
knew about it was retaining water and weight gain. I didn't know if
that was over a long period of time of taking the meds. or if it
happens as soon as it gets into your system.

According to my research a permanent weight gain and retaining water
is not an  expected side effect:
"Other side effects may occur that usually do not need medical
attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your
body adjusts to the medicine. However, check with your doctor if any
of the following side effects continue or are bothersome:

      More common
            Abdominal cramps; breast pain or tenderness; diarrhea;
dizziness; enlarged breasts; increase in amount of clear vaginal
discharge; itching; joint pain; mental depression; nausea; painful
menstrual periods; passing of gas; stomach discomfort following meals;
unusual tiredness

      Less common
            Bloating or swelling of face, ankles, or feet; headaches,
including migraine headaches; increase in sexual desire; tense
muscles; unusual weight gain or loss

      Rare
            Mood changes; nervousness; trouble in sleeping; vomiting"
