I read an artical that referenced,
He F, Sun J, et. al. Effects of pyrethroid insecticides on subjects
engaged in packaging pyrethroids. British Journal of Industrial
Medicine 1988;45(8:548-51 as one of it's sources of information. How
can I find and obtain a copy of this on the internet?

Hi there,

A quick clarification. Do you want to find the paper or this article?

This article is not available online in full text for free. You can
get an abstract of it on the Net, or you can obtain a copy of the full
article for $14.70. If you are interested in either of these options,
I can show you how to get to them.

The abstract of the article is available through Medline at:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=3415921&dopt=Abstract

Br J Ind Med 1988 Aug;45(8):548-51

Effects of pyrethroid insecticides on subjects engaged in packaging
pyrethroids.
He F, Sun J, Han K, Wu Y, Yao P, Wang S, Liu L.

Institute of Occupational Medicine, Chinese Academy of Preventive
Medicine, Beijing.

"A health survey was conducted on 199 workers engaged in dividing and
packaging pyrethroids. The subjects were exposed to fenvalerate at
0.012-0.055 mg/m3 and deltamethrin at 0.005-0.012 mg/m3 in the air
with simultaneous skin contact for 0.5-4.5 months. Burning sensations
and tightness or numbness on the face appeared in two thirds of the
subjects and one third had sniffs and sneezes. Abnormal facial
sensations, dizziness, fatigue, and miliary red papules on the skin
were more evident in summer than in winter. Neither abnormalities in
other organs or systems nor symptoms or signs of acute pyrethroid
poisoning were found by interviews, examinations, and laboratory
tests. There was no significant difference in plasma levels of NA,
cAMP, and cGMP between the examined subjects and the control group.
The urine concentration of fenvalerate in the study group ranged from
1.02 to 18.6 micrograms/l; deltamethrin in the urine was present in
trace amounts."

Any library worth its salt should be able to get you a copy of the
article on interlibrary loan. Also, the Medline page has a "Related
Articles" button, as well as a general search button, which can lead
you to a ton of additional (and more current) information on
pyrethroids. Best of luck.
