Question ID: 395621
I am trying to uninstall Windows Me and install Windows XP.

When I run the Windows XP disk from my Windows Me, it does not give me
the option to 'Upgrade'. It only allows for 'New Installation'.

When I reformat my c: with my boot disk, I cannot run d:setup for my
Windows XP, it says unavailable for DOS, but it works perfectly well
to reinstall my Windows Me.

My Windows XP CD is a full version that came with my Dell PC for reintallation.

Help!

Hi!!

I think that you need to use the Windows XP Setup boot disks in your
formated c:, please visit the following page and follow the
instructions:
"310994 - How to obtain Windows XP Setup boot disks"
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q310994

Other option is to use a bootable CD:
"WinXP Bootable CD"
http://old.bink.nu/xpbootcd/

"Bootale CDs"
http://www.geocities.com/bootablecds/

Please let me know if this comment works in order to post this in the
answer box and claim the prize. If not also let me know to continue
the research.
