Hello curiogeorges,
The Promotional Products Association honors the top online
distributors of promotional products each year. In the year 2002, Gold
went to Branders.com, Silver to GoPromos.com, the Dubbs Company, and
ePromos.com, and Bronze to Club Colors, Inc. and Signet. Another
company made the 2001 list - MadetoOrder. Out of the hundreds of
online retailers of promotional products, this should help lead you to
ones which are quality.

12oz foam cup
minimum order of 10,000 (price per cup $0.13 for one color - max of 2)
price per cup goes as low as $0.08 for quantitiels of 50,000 or
higher)
They have several other cups available in both paper & styrofoam in
12oz and 8oz sizes. Shorter runs (lower quantities) are available as
well on certain specific cups (minimum of as few as 500), but at a
higher cost per cup. All cup appear to only be available with two
color silkscreen printing.
Production time for all cups is 15 days (not including shipping).

GOPROMOS.COM
They don't appear to print any type of paper cups.
http://www.gopromos.com/store/section.asp?CL=102A2035
EPROMOS.COM
They don't have any paper or styrofoam beverage cups listed on their
site either, but "If you don't see the product you are looking for on
the site, call one of our Promotions Specialists at 800-LOGO-216
(800-546-6216) and we will search from over 600,000 products in our
database to help you find exactly the right product for your
purposes." I personally have worked with them before (as well as
Branders listed above) and can say that they are both very helpful and
willing to work with you to meet your needs.

Club Colors, Signet, and the Dubbs Company also do not list any type
of paper/styrofoam cup online.
The two companies which I found which best meet all of your
requirements are:
1) The Discount Printer - offers 8oz paper cup for 25 cents each and
12oz cup for 27 cents each (minimum 1000 for that price) in one color.
You can email for a quote including multiple colors.

Sorg's Paper Place offers an Express Service for smaller quantities
with a fast turnaround time. Production time on both new and repeat
orders is approximately 68 business days from art approval and they
do offer 4-color printing. Here is the pricing information for an 8oz
hot paper cup (there are other options/sizes as well):

$0.55 - 100
$0.35 - 250
$0.30 - 500
$0.25 - 1000

$0.52 - 250
$0.48 - 500

Sorg's also has much cheaper alternatives at quantities greater than
5,000 or more, but production time is approximately 4 weeks from art
approval.
Here are some more of the biggest suppliers (most of whom do not meet
all of your requirements):
Vista Pak Industries offers custom printing on Solo paper cups in up
to three colors "on 4oz., 8oz., 12oz., 16oz., and 20oz. sizes. The
4oz., great for SHOW SAMPLES, is available in only two colors maximum.
Printing base color is white only." Minimum print order is 5,000. They
also offer these same options on plain foam cups but higher minimum
quantity (25,000 cups) and more than a three week lead time. No
pricing or shipping info available online.

Conference Cup
This one looks promising since their stock cups are only 3.9 cents
each (without printing). Their Web site doesn't include prices for
custom jobs, but you can view samples and email for a quote. They are
based in Canada, so if you are in the U.S. you can also take advantage
of the great exchange rate.

Insulair provides a great product and six color capability, but their
order minimum is 50,000 and turn-around time is 5-7 weeks so they
don't meet your needs.
http://www.insulair.com/product/prodline.html
Chinet is another large distributor, but their timing (6-8 weeks)
doesn't meet your needs.

Dixie Cups offers a custom print program as well, but minimum
quantities are 50,000 and turn-around time is about 8 weeks. On their
Web site you first select the cup and size and then you can select the
page for custom print options.

More vendors from the National Restaurant Association 2002 show. Most
of these are wholesale distributors, but their Web sites are
informative.

While making your decision, please keep in mind ALL of the costs
involved including artwork preparation costs (it is common to pay a
$100-$250 set up fee per color), shipping costs, etc.

for clarification and be sure to provide a few more details (such as
type/size of cup, anticipated quantity, and your location).

Hello curiogeorges,
First of all, thank you so much for the five star rating. I'm so glad
that my answer met your needs.
As for shipping products from Canada into the U.S., your best bet will
be to contact the vendor as they will know the specifics for their
product and shipping options. In general, however, you will not be
required to pay the Canadian GST or any other provincial sales tax
since they don't apply to the sale of products outside Canada. There
may be a customs duty/tariff involved, but NAFTA keeps this pretty low
between the U.S. and Canada. Shipments under $2000 are treated
"informally" and usually have a much easier time with customs.
Basically, however, the supplier that you deal with will know the
exact details of duty taxes, shipments, etc. for the specific
items/quantity that you are dealing with.
If you interested in poking around a bit on the subject yourself, you
may want to look over "Importing into the United States," a
publication of the U.S. Customs Office.

Best of luck with your cups!
