Question ID: 396437
I need to be able to synchronize files and directories using SSH/SCP on Windows..

Requirements:
- Must use SSH or SCP
- Must be able to synchronize files & folders recursively
- Must be bi-directional synching (update whichever is older)
- Must be able to connect through standard HTTP proxy server using user/pass

I don't particularly care if it uses a GUI or command line parameters,
but I need to be able to schedule it to do a synchronize every so
often.

I've found lots of SFTP programs that can connect to my server through
the proxy system but I have not been able to find a program that will
synchronize on schedule.

I might be able to help you, but I need to know more about your specs.

First, you mention an HTTP proxy server, yet the application you're
looking for seems to be unrelated to the web. You do not require a web
app, correct? You're happy with a standalone program that runs from a
text terminal?

Second, you mention scheduled synchronization at the end of your
question, but not among the requirements. If I name a command-line
program that meets your other needs, will you be able to write a
script to run this program routinely? Or should I also name a
scheduling utility that will do this for you?

It does indeed need to be a web app, connecting from one computer to
another over the Internet.

Synchronization ability is definetely a requirement as well, if its a
command line utility I am capable of scheduling it to run as I need
it.

Ideally I'd like an app which is designed for synchronization that
sits in my system tray. One where I can specify a list of files and
directories to synchronize to my server. This is not a requirement
though. A command line utility with synchronization will suffice.

On the back end I will be using my own server, so using a service such
as foldershare.com won't work for me.

I think the previous poster was implying that there is a difference
between a web app which uses http and an app that connects over the
internet with other protocols. Assuming you don't need to use http, it
sounds like rsync might be what you need:

The rsync works great, though it doesn't do a two way synchronization
as far as I can tell, but since it works so well at making one look
like the other in no time at all I'll just set it up to go both ways
manually...

Thanks a bunch!
