I bought a Gateway Solo 9500 laptop and it has a boot password.  How
do I get rid of the password prompt?

do you know the password? If so, go to the bios after boot/password
(depending on the computer, this is Del, F1, or F2) and turn it off in
the Security section.

most laptops will have a panel on the bottom if u take it off and hunt
around u should find a button battery, remove this and the password
will be cleared!!!
this is the same with desktop pc's too
