How many US governors resigned this year and last year? Have there
ever been that many or more governors who have resigned (or left
office) in a year's time any time previous in our history?

Or, how many governors have ever left office during their term in US
history since oh, let's just say Washington became POTUS? (deaths or
resignations are key focus).

How about just the last 50 years? or 20 years?

I don't need a really detailed answer... Observing the loss of
governors from CT, NJ , CA(2003) (elsewhere?) I don't recall ever
there being such an exodus of highly elected positions.

I found http://www.wordiq.com/definition/List_of_United_States_Governors
which has predecessor links.
