This is all I've been able to find:

"Very little is known for certain about Carlo Albani, a fact admitted
even by Kutsch and Riemens in their authoritative Unvergängliche
Stimmen. It is sad that a singer of such obvious talent should now be
remembered for an incident in which, following his having broken a
contract with the Manhattan Opera, he was arrested on stage in Boston
during a performance of Il Trovatore. Apart from a few Red Victors,
his records were made in Europe for Pathé, Edison and Odeon and appear
to have had little currency outside their country of origin."

In 1908 the tenor Carlo Albani was denounced by an impresario during a
tournée.As he still had to sing as Manrico in Verdi's Il Trovatore, he
asked to be imprisoned only afterthe end of the tournée: so he was
allowed to sing, but under the surveillance of an officer.During the
famous All'armi, the singer ran so hastily on the stage that the
officer, fearing an escape, jumped on the stage and arrested him while
he was singing the final high C.

Hi laforzadeldestino,

There does not appear to be a great deal of information on the web
regarding Carlo Albani. Along with tehuti's findings I have managed to
locate the following biographical summary, which has been taken from
http://www.francoisnouvion.net/italian/albani.html
This site also contains Carlo Albani's discography and a picture of
the tenor.

"He was born in an Italian-French family. He went back to Paris where
studied with the famous teacher Delle Sedie. After an audition he was
engaged for a long tour of Sudamerica where he made his debut in 1901.
He had a great success and he decided to remain there for an extended
period of time. His first Italian appearance, found by Roberto
Marcocci, was in 1905 at Teatro Della Pergola in Firenze in Rigoletto.
Oscar Hammerstein engaged him for the season 1908-09 at the Manatthan
Opera, where he made his debut in Trovatore. During a resting period,
thanks to his great success, Albani was contacted by the manager of
San Carlo Opera Company who asked him to sing in some
operas during the season at the Boston Opera. Albani accepted but
Hammerstein sued him and he was placed under arrest on the stage
during a performance. Because of these problems, Albani had to leave
the States. In Italy, he never succeeded in singing the bigger name
Opera houses. He stopped singing in the middle 1920s."

regards,
lotd
