I get an error window saying that windows xp installer can`t be
found.how do I fix this?

Try the following:

Start --> Run --> type "msiexec /unregister" (without quotes) --> Enter

Then:
Start --> Run --> type "msiexec /regserver" (without quotes) --> Enter

This may be solve your problem.
Please let me know if this works, in the affirmative I will be able to

use this :
enter the control panel | administrative tools | services
look for section called Windows Installer , click that and then look
for status is it stopped or started ? if it is stopped , then click
start to start the service .
