I'm the assistant manager of a small co. who received a harassing hate letter from an employee. It was disturbing and revealed a certain amount of obsessive thinking, so I'm afraid. What are the requirements, if any, of my employer to investigate and help to ensure this doesn't continue, and what rights to I have as an employee in trying to find out who did this? Oh, and I'm in Texas if that makes a difference. |

Hi, Kaye5, Sorry to hear about your hate mail. It must be very disturbing. But unless you can be sure who the writer is, there's not much that anyone can do. One of my colleagues was the recipient of many such letters some years ago and it took a long time to track down the writer as his personal assistant, the least likely person imaginable, until she said something that pointed unmistakably to her. In the meantime, try not to worry because that would only add to the writer's malicious pleasure. All the Best Bryan Do keep the letter, it may become useful. |
