What is the max number of email address that I can address in a single email?

I use exchange 2003 and OL 2003

I heard that most email server have a limit the maximum number of
recipients that an e-mail message header may contain, and therefore
you cannot send out a email with a large amount of recipients.

What number is safe to send out? We have 98 people on the email
mailing list I want to send out. Do I need to chop that into 2 or 3
emails, or can I send 1 email to all 98 people?

thanx in advnce

Based on the discussion at:
http://www.freelists.org/archives/mlug/12-2003/msg00018.html

I would like to know if you have a "Business" account with your Internet
Service Provider.
You might want to check if your ISP imposes any kind of limits for sending
emails to multiple addresses.

About your Exchange 2003 question, your mailing list count of 98 people
does not exceed Exchange's limit according to Microsoft.
To quote Microsoft:
Q. What is the limit to the number of addresses in the header fields?

A. That depends on the client platform. The Win16 limit is smaller
than the Win32 limit, but we have tested with 1500+ on Win16 and 2000+
on Win32. These are total recipients because we count To:, Cc:, and
Bcc: objects, although Distribution Lists count as 1. There is no hard
limit, it is based on the amount of memory available on the client
computer.

I hope that answers your question.

Thank you.

"I would like to know if you have a "Business" account with your Internet
Service Provider." Yes. it is hosted exchange. The tech i talked to
didn't know of any limits, but he wasn't sure.

So what is the bottom line? What is Win16 and Win32?

Basically, Win16 describes older Windows Operating Systems Windows 3.1/Workstation.
Whereas, Win32 describes recent Windows Operating Systems like Windows
XP/Windows 95/98/2000.

Which Windows Version are you running?
