We are a startup that specializes in 
a. User Experience and Information Architecture consulting and 
b. Enterprise/Education training content development 

We are heavy on Macromedia Flash and Flex and are trying to find
independent consultants (read: economical) or small consulting firms
who can introduce or take us into corporations for contracts. Since we
are based in Dallas, would be nice if the results point to TX or

a. Would a list of software marketing consultants in Texas be ok?

b. Or you would rather have software sales representatives be the ones
pushing your product. If this is the case then sales representative
databases would entail additional cost since you must be a member to
access the list.  Subscription charges will be $300 to $400 annually.
Would a list of these type of services or database be ok with you?

Hello EasterAngel,

I am trying to understand the difference between the 2 categories in
your question.  When would you go to the Software Marketing Consultant
as opposed to a Software Sales Representative?

As I had posed in my original question, what we offer is a set of
software services that can be used in any organization. So we need
people who can take us or get an audience with decision makers in
large organizations. To start with in TX, but it really does not
matter if it is not TX.

If you can provide a sample of each of these categories, then I would
be able to confirm whether this is what we are looking for.

a. Marketing Consultant - One goes to a marketing consultant for
overall marketing strategy. You may say that yo do not need this now
since you just want to sell your software but a marketing professional
can give your product and company a needed identity before you present
yourself at the door of corporations.

b. Sales Representatives - Sales Reps are the ones that take your
product and do the dirty work of presenting it to targeted clients.
You might say that this is the type of people you need right now but
without an overall marketing plan then it will still be difficult for
them to sell your product. Of course if you already have a marketing
plan then this could be the way to go. However a Marketing Consultant
can also provide you with different choices on how to sell your
product and not only through face to face negoitiations.

A few more questions...

a. Marketing Consultants - It seems that there are only a very limited
number of Marketing Consyltants that specialize in technology products
in Texas. Would general marketing consultants be ok as a replacement?

b. Please remember that the Sales Representatives list I mentioned in
my first clarification is actually a database that can only be
accessed by subscription. I only provided a general Sales Rep company
to give you an example. Subscription charges will be $300 to $400
annually. Again just to make sure, is this ok with you?
