I am trying to find a resource online or in print that will provide an
overview of legitimate, respected Internet/Web site awards - e.g.
Webaward, The Webby Awards, Web Standards Awards. Can you help?

Unfortunately, the link you provided includes a high percentage of
"rinky-dink" award programs that are more about self-promotion for the
creator of the award program than actually providing a legitimate,
industry-wide respected award.

I have visted a variety of online directories, including Google's and
have had no luck in locating more serious award programs.

Examples of what I am looking for:
-Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) Codie Awards
 http://www.siia.net/codies/2005/why.asp

-The Webaward Competition
 http://www.webaward.org/index.asp

-The Webby Awards
 http://www.webbyawards.com/main/index.html

-The Web Standards Awards
 http://www.webstandardsawards.com/

-American Design Awards
 http://www.americandesignawards.com/index.html

What I need:
My client is a well known e-commerce web site that is in the process
of redesigning its web site and is interested, as part of its
corporate communications platform, in promoting this redesign by
creating an awards program that will recognize its "achievements."

I need a healthy list of web design/e-commerce/e-business/internet
awards that are legitimate, industry-wide accepted and respected. NO
RINKY DINK AWARDS.

Ultimately, I am looking for a resource that contains a healthy list
of such awards.

Please let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks!

Thanks for responding to my request for clarification so promptly.

Determining what is "legitimate" and what is "rinky-dink" is a
judgment call which I lack the expertise to make, so I'll pass the
question to other Researchers who are more familiar with awards of
this type.

It would be very useful to know approximately how long a list you're
expecting. Many Researchers are leery of questions that ask for a list
to be compiled, since it's difficult to know whether the customer has
in mind a list of ten items or a hundred. A ballpark figure is a big
help.
