Draw a circle with 23 evenly spaced points on it. Label these 0, 1, ... , 22 in a clockwise direction, starting from the top (not that the direction really matters). Draw lines connecting points 22 and 1, 21 and 2, 20 and 3, 19 and 4, 18 and 5, 17 and 6, 16 and 7, 15 and 8, 14 and 9, 13 and 10, 12 and 11. These are 11 parallel chords of the circle (all horizontal), and one line lands on every point except for point the point labeled 0. Notice that none of the chords are rotations of any of the other chords. Let's say you'll have matches once a week. The first week there are 11 matches between the teams connected by the lines. So 22 plays 1, 21 plays 2 and so on. Each week after that there will be 10 games. The entire season will be 23 weeks long. To get the matches for the second week, leave the lines like they are, but relabel the points, moving each number one step clockwise. So the point that had been labeled 2 is now labeled 1, the one that was 3 is now 2 and so on. There are only 10 matches, because two teams don't have matches: team 22 has no line drawn to it (because point 0 has been relabeled 22), and team 21 has a line connecting it to team 0 which doesn't exist. So the second week 20 plays 1, 19 plays 2, and so on. For the third week, you relabel the points again, once again rotating the labels one position clockwise. After the 23rd week, each team will have played each other team once. To decide whether a match is home or away, label one end of each line HOME and the other end AWAY, switching ends from line to line. So, label the left end of the top line (the one that connects the points originally labeled 22 and 1) HOME, and the right end AWAY. Go down one line, and label the left end AWAY, and the right end HOME. Repeat this for all the lines alternating which end is HOME and which AWAY as you go down. |

I already told you how to make a schedule, but since you are "desperate" I went ahead and made it. Home team is listed first in each match. |
