Dear Mikeadventure, The leading authority on vintage 78rpm children's records is "The Kiddie Rekord King" - Peter Muldavin. The Kiddie Rekord King (aka Peter Muldavin) is the USA's leading expert on old (78 rpm) children's records. He is currently working on the world's first comprehensive discography and price guide of children's 78rpm records and will publish it in 2005 or 2006. http://www.kiddierekordking.com/ Peter Muldavin has the largest inventory of vintage children's records in the world. ?And after his collection was well under way, he even went to the Library of Congress to research the subject. He discovered to his surprise that he had more information than they did. At this point, Peter's "hobby" became his "mission"-i.e., to list all kiddie 78rpm records made in the USA. His current inventory of approximately 12,000 discs (not counting duplicates) is the largest of its kind in the world. He is acknowledged as the country's leading expert in this field.? Muldavin will be publishing a complete discography and price guide of vintage kiddie records in the near future. ?No comprehensive book on the subject has been published. That situation will hopefully be resolved when I publish the first complete discography and price guide of vintage kiddie records in the fairly near future (target date 2005 or 2006).? Peter Muldavin states: ?It is my goal to make a significant contribution to this field of collectibles. The list probably will never be completed, as most of the companies that made them are long since out of business, and have left no information behind. In my collection, I currently have more than 12,000 vintage children's records (not counting duplicates) on almost 200 labels and label variations. I have listings of perhaps another 3000. And then there are those whose existence are yet to be 'discovered'.? Peter can be contacted at: 173 W. 78th St. New York, NY 10024; Phone: (212) 362-9606; E-mail: kiddie78s@aol.com http://www.kiddierekordking.com/article.html Read more about Peter Muldavin here: http://www.kiddierekordking.com/aboutme.html Search terms used: Personal Bookmarks for vintage 78 rpm records I hope this helps! How funny. I just posted a comment on somebody else's question the other day, recommending Peter Muldvain. I've bought stuff from him and even visited his apartment-- saw the amazing collection. . . he and his wife have barely any clothes in their closets -- everywhere you look are 78's! Great guy. |

Cryptica, what a small world. I have already contacted Mr. Muldavin. He kindly offered to let me see his collection next time I am in New York City. Sounds like his wife if a VERY understanding person! LOL--Mike A. |

mikeadventure -- Yes,she IS understanding and very nice, too. I think one thing that makes it all work for them is that the collection is organized and every inch of the place is neat 'n tidy. No clutter. Plus, all the art work on all the albums (and some of it is on the walls) is so beautiful -- it's a pleasure to see it all. Nevertheless, they probably end up storing their winter coats in the bathtub or something. It is NOT a big apartment. By all means, you should take him up on his offer to visit. It was easy for me to get there, 'cause I'm only a few blocks away from him. |
