Back in 1982, there was a type of plastic jewelry called a "dizzy pin". Dizzy pins were made from a single sheet of thin plastic, treated in such a way that there was a 3-D illusion of colored pearls in a hexagonal pattern against a colored background. The slightest movement of the pin or eyes caused the field of pearls to shift. At the time, there were earrings made out of the same material as well. I can't find anything about these on the web. I suspect that they may have been marketed at some point under another name. If anyone can find a Web page that talks about this specific object, under the "dizzy pin" name or any other, the $30 is yours. References to similar 3D objects don't count. I do know that the description is somewhat vague. Am I allowed to link to a web page with a photograph I've taken of this object? Thank you, Porkribs |

A link to a photo would be much appreciated. I have never heard the term "Dizzy Pins," but I remember '80s jewelry that used holographic diffraction gratings that dazzled the eye. I had several sets of earrings with "optical illusion" effects that were related to diffraction gratings. |

Pinkfreud - I will try to add a link to a picture. Leaving town for a week, so it won't be until I get back. We may be talking about the same thing - were your 3D objects always round? |

No, the patterns that I recall weren't always round. They were often tiled geometric shapes. I look forward to seeing your photo. You've piqued my curiosity. |
