Ready Mixed Concrete - RMC - used to own the land that Thorpe Park
theme park is now on. When it was changed to a park the huge gravel
pits were filled with water - where did the water come from to do this
please, and how did they fill it (process)?

Howdy dtnl42-ga,

I emailed Thorpe Park and their response was that the gravel pits are "within
the Thames Valley basin. There is water underneath the whole Thames Area from
the River Thames, therefore if you dig a pit in this area water naturally fills
the area." They also mentioned that any rainfall would have added to this.

So, in the years they were quarrying rocks, it was a matter of keeping the
water out, which they no doubt used pumps to accomplish. I grew up in a part
of the U.S. that has several gravel pits, and that is my experience with them
as well.

If you need any clarification, feel free to ask.

My guess: from the Water Board.

Where else?

It would have been piped in from the nearest supply points or maybe
they even set up temporary standpipes.

Where do the Fire Engines get their supplies from?

There is only one possible place!

(Of course, I'm not always right.)
