Hi hailstorm!

Well, I?m not a child of the eighties (I?m a little older than that
but I won?t admit to how much older). However, I do love M&M?s!

This comes from an eighties M&M?s commercial with the following line:

"I get a single with the brown ones, double with the yellow,
orange--triple... but with the green ones, i hit the ball
dooowntown!"?

I found this commercial being discussed on the web at the following links:

InThe80s.com
Favorite Commercials From Television and Radio in the Eighties,
Products Beginning with M
http://www.inthe80s.com/tvcommercials/m.shtml

This one has some screenshots from the commercial:

I-Mockery.com
M&M?s Dirty Little Secret

Being an M&M lover, I strongly suspected that it had something to do
with M&M?s. But to be honest, I didn?t remember the commercial, so I
did a few searches.

The following searches paid off:

eighties brown yellow orange
://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=eighties+brown+yellow+orange

m&m's single brown double orange triple yellow
://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&safe=off&q=m%26m%27s+single+brown+double+orange+triple+yellow&btnG=Search

As you can see, your hint helped.

Thanks for the fun question!

No tip because you needed the hint, but I'm glad this was found by
someone who knew what I was referring to instead of simple brute force
searching. I should have waited a few days more to see if you
could've gotten it anyway! Oh well...

Actually, archae0pteryx-ga is correct in a sense that I didn't realize
until now. Brown has only one vowel, Yellow has two, and Orange has
three. The next suggestions followed that pattern (four vowels, five
vowels)

However, in the pattern I am referring to, there is a direct, 1 to 1
correlation. Brown is the only answer that equals 1, Yellow is the
only answer that equals 2, Orange is the only answer that equals 3,
and ??????? (which is not necessarily seven letters long) is the only
answer that equals 4. Furthermore, there is nothing for five and
above, nor 0 and below.

Blue = 4?

Yellow, orange and blue makes brown.

Oh NO!

There are several colours (Am: colors) that have only one vowel, etc.

Red, Blue, Maroon, etc.

I still think that it's Pink as in Champagne.

If you know the reason for the answer, I suspect you will not need the
use of a question mark. When you know it...or more accurately, if you
can remember it, you will _know_ it!

My dear, I *had* children in the eighties, pretty late by the
standards of my contemporaries.

Thank you for recognizing the aptness of my solution, even though it
wasn't what you had in mind.

Thanks for the 5-stars hailstorm. No problem about no tip. $1.50 is
enough to buy a bag of M&M's :-).
