Phoenix, Arizona (pop. 1,321,045) seems to be missing. Hempstead, New York is a town (one of three in Nassau County; there are two cities). It contains 22 incorporated villages and is generally not counted in "city" rankings. For example, according to http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0108252.html, the ten lrgest cities in NYS are New York, 8,085,742; Buffalo, 285,018; Rochester, 215,093; Yonkers, 197,388; Syracuse, 144,001; Albany, 93,919; New Rochelle, 72,582; Mount Vernon, 68,404; Schenectady, 61,016; Utica, 59,485. |

I also thought several cities are missing from the Bobbie list such as Miami, Florida, Pittsberg, Pa. Tulsa, Ok. Raliegh, NC. Durham, NC, Oakland, Calif. Perhaps the difficulty is suburbs are not included in the either the bobbie or nelson numbers. I thought Buffalo, NY was 3 times the 285,018 |

adilqureshi-ga's list cannot possibly be right. I've never even heard of many of those places. neilzero, suburbs should NOT be included, unless metro area population is requested. I took a quick look on Wikipedia for Miami, Pittsburgh and Oakland and was quite surprised that they do indeed fall below 450,000. Aside from NYC, New York's large cities are not all that large. |
