1986 Merc Topaz - alternator drains the battery overnight. Otherwise it works fine. I have to unplug it at night or my batt. is dead in the AM |

Called parastatic drain. You need an amp meter. Do you wish to fix this yourself? |

re-10, There is most likely a shorted diode in the alternator. If you know the problem is in the alternator why not replace it? |

The same thing happened to a friend of mine, turns out his alarm system was improperly wired. Have you recently had anything installed in your car like a remote starter or new stereo? |
