What is the name of this song, and where can I obtain a recorded copy of it as played on piano solely? http://home.earthlink.net/~benjaminreavesd/040907004.WAV My mother played it on the piano decades ago, she would love to hear it (recorded properly, not like this off the radio) now in her old age. | |

Dear benreaves-ga: Thank you for allowing me an opportunity to answer your interesting question. Aside from what I have already offered you, and with the help of my good friend and adorable colleague ?Pinkfreud? the name of your song has been found. It is called BUMBLE BOOGIE and it comes from neither the rag nor the jazz era but at the end of the (?boogie-woogie?) Swing era of Big Band at the latter part of the 1940?s: BUMBLE BOOGIE http://kariokebar.com/sound/B/bumbleboogie.mid In fact, there was an animated short by this same name in 1948 that featured the song: INTERNET MOVIE DATABASE: BUMBLE BOOGIE http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0167809/ Wade Preston actually wrote the tune in 1933 while playing with the Freddy Martin Orchestra. It is indeed based on Rimskey Korsakov?s ?Flight Of The Bumble Bee?. You can hear Preston?s full recording in near CD quality here: WADE PRESTON http://www.wadepreston.com/Bumble_Boogie.mp3 If you prefer, you can purchase the CD (which includes the BUMBLE BOOGIE) from his site and take this to your mother as a gift. THE WADE PRESTON BAND ?NO PRESENT LIKE THE TIME? http://www.wadepreston.com/cd.htm In closing I must say that if your mother could play this tune on her piano she must have burned it up man. She has my greatest admiration because she is CLEARLY one talented lady. I hope you find that my research exceeds your expectations. If you have any questions about my research please post a clarification request prior to rating the answer. Otherwise, I welcome your rating and your final comments and I look forward to working with you again in the near future. Thank you for bringing your question to us. Best regards; Tutuzdad ? You can get some really cool versions of this song on Marimba at http://www.steveweissmusic.com. They have a bunch of arrangements of the sheet music, and some recordings on Marimba. |
