I operate a fine woodworking (furniture) training program for youth in
Washington, D.C., and would like to learn about other programs - both
school based
and community based - that focus on shop-based training or production
activites that involve young people (high school age). I would like
to find more examples of these programs in order to identify a renewed
interest in shop-based training programs, and best practices among
them. I am familiar with Cedar Ridge High School in NC, their
involvement with WOODLinks, SkillsUSA programs and the RMYC "Taos
Timberline" program in NM. These programs do not need to be limited
to the US.
I am not interested in residential construction training programs like
Job Corps, or the Home Builder's Institute, or wood technology/timber
programs that focus on lumber production or timber harvesting. The
programs should revolve around furniture making, cabinetry, signmaking
or wood products. |
