missmallprincess,

The best toy shops are SSS - Simple, Shopable and Saveable.

The layout needs to be kept simple with catergories to the point, your
pics need to be small and usually people add a 'Clearance' or
'Reduced' section if you are selling many items.

Start Page
-----------

I would recommend having a simple start page, possible with a bright
logo at the top and an 'ENTER' button underneath.

Inside the store you should have a Top Banner with the basic 'Home',
'Catergories' and 'Checkout' you should probably include a small logo
of your own in the top left.

Main Page
---------

I would recommend dividing your frames into two sections, if you don't
know how to do this, go to http://k_c.home.mindspring.com/frames.html
Take off the scroller (Also on the website above - Macromedia
Fireworks has an option for doing this)

On the right have a basic page maybe a description of when, why and
who started the company, underneath you can have either 'Newest added
items' or 'Discounted Items'

Catergory pages
---------------
On the left side I would recommend adding Catergories, e.g. As you are
selling toys, you could have:
Action Man
Barbie
Hot Wheels
....
....

OR YOU COULD HAVE

Diecast Veichles
Dolls
.....
.....

In each section make sure your description (If you have one) is breif
and to the point, make your image sizes smaller by using the best
image desizer available, IfranView
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/irfan.html (Save as .JPG and make the
size bar go down)

If you don't want to spend the long time creating it, use a shop
making program like RealCart or PayPal Shop

Hope this helps, give me an e-mail when your sites up and running!

MMP --

Yahoo's Small Business web pages have a complete checklist for items
from hosting to credit card processing (which is the necessary and
often expensive part of either bricks-and-mortar or e-commerce
retailing). You'll want to poke through the web hosting, merchant
solutions and marketing sections:
http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/

Their "Getting Started" guide is really very complete, running over 100 pages.

Best regards,
