I want to outsource the hosting of 2-8 Terminal Service accts and shut down a small Windows Server 2003 box we have running on a DSL line. We have 2 sales people that work entirely in the terminal environment. We current use Remote Desktop Connection app that is in XP to let them connect and work on the server. We lock down the local PC so they can?t surf or do anything on it but run Remote Desktop Connection. By everything I mean: ? use QuickBooks ? use IE to surf various web sites (including flash, shockwave, and occasionally QuickTime enabled sites). Also including sites that use Java and Active-X like USP and FedEx. ? use Outlook 2003 to connect to their accts on our separate exchange 2003 server (via RPC over HTTP). ? use Excel 2003 and Word 2003 and sometimes PowerPoint 2003 ? If thee future we might by a small CRM system or maybe order tracking system like it, so they will need this to be installed on the server. We are spending to much time dealing with spyware and viruses and I want to make this someone?s problem. I want them to terminal into a box that someone else had to admin. It has to be a reliable ASP with a real (i.e. get a human on the line) tech support line and housed in a real data center. They must also be willing to install printer drivers as needed so these accts can print to whatever printers we get them in the future. We are not willing to change our exchange server, but it can be accessed from any place over ssl, so that wont be an issue. Citrix would also be fine. Does anyone outsource citrix in accts as small as 2 people? What can I expect to pay per accts per month? Can you give me a link to a company or two? Is there any articles or tip sheets out there that can warn me of any pitfalls of doing something like this? thanx in advnce |
