I am looking for a children's book. Published within the last twenty
years. For young adults. It is a adventure book, about two boys who
canoe a isolated river. Their canoe sinks and they swim to a small
island channel. There they must wait since the water are infested with
crocs or alligators. They cannot leave. Eventually they manage to kill
some of them for food, and they do find their way back home in the
end.

Any luck?

Hi,

Could we narrow "within the last twenty years" down a little? What is
your best guess of the year in which you read this book? Was it closer
to 1984 or 2004?

It is not a recent book. I would say it was published for certain
before 1995 and not after 1984. I saw it in a bookstore a year ago,
and it is a widely published book. And the story is what I rememberd
it to be. I don't know the author or tite, sorry. But the story
details I wrote I know to be accurate since I remember it clearly.

Thanks

Hello.

Okay, please disregard my earlier clarification request.

I believe that your book was "Danger in Quicksand Swamp" (1991) by Bill Wallace.

See this description on Alibris.com

"When jake finds the old canoe filled with rocks and hidden in sand
near the river, he and Ben are thrilled! But someone wants to bury it.
Why? The trouble begins when they clean it up, discover a treasure
map, and set out in their new boat in search of adventure. What they
find instead is terror: alligators swarming around them, trapping them
on the tiny island in the middle of the eerie Swamp..."

search strategy:
alibris.com, alligators, canoe

I hope this is the book that you had in mind. If not, please let me
know via the "request clarification" feature. Thanks.
