My mother recently died and left a collection of old (I hesiteate to
say ancient) Chinese artifacts. They include a hand carved teak
lantern holder (about 5 feet tall) two hand carved teak chests, and a
hand carved teak chair. There are also a considerable number of
artworks in her copllection. I am looking for someone to help me
establish a value on these items, and perhaps a home for them (museum,
etc.). The collection is in Chicago, IL

Greetings! I'll wager your teak pieces are stunning, and I have
located two appraisers of Orentalia in Chicago. If they are unable to
determine the value of your teak and other pieces, they should be able
to direct you to someone who can value them accurately. They are:

Norman L. Sandfield
3150 N Sheridan Rd Apt 10B
Chicago, IL 60657-4838
Phone : 773-327-1733
Specialties : Netsuke, Inro, Ojime, Orientalia

I searched "Orientalia chicago appraiser" at Google search and it

If you want to donate one or more of the pieces to museums for a tax
write-off, you can contact the Chicago Appraisers Association for
Museum and Charitable donations. Their telephone number is (847)
446-8827. Even if not considering this, you might call to ask them
for a reference. They also offer a selling page as well.

I used the phrase "chicago appraisers accociation" at Google search
and it returned ://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=chicago+appraisers+association
