Terminology:
OCR = Optical Character Recognition
Enterprise Level = Software should be scalable to work on multiple
servers. Volumes measured in millions per year. Should expose an
object model or API for integration into existing software systems.
Software would be integrated into the organizations existing workflow.
Background:
We are a data capture company that specializes in off-shore
outsourcing. We are looking for a better on-shore data capture
solution. Due to increasing Government regulations, we are
investigating the potential of OCR for integration into our on shore
process. The primary use of the OCR would be to capture data from
health care forms.
Objective:
I need a body of research that can be used as a base. The research
will be carried forward by an internal team of engineers and analysis
to evaluate and apply to the business.
Requested Information:
I need research data that compares different enterprise level OCR
packages. I need quality statistics. Quality statistics prepared by
the software vendor are acceptable, but independent research is
preferred. Also include pricing information, if it is available.
Reminder, the quality and pricing information should be limited for
health care forms based solutions. |

Hello umilmi81-ga,
Let me see if I understood - you are looking for an OCR software
product and would like to compare available products. Is this correct?
I doubt that you will find information related to "health care forms",
but I'm sure that whatever features these OCR packages have, will be
geared to forms in general, and as such, will also apply to health
care forms. Will this be acceptable?
Please let me know. Many thanks!

You are correct. We would like a comparison of various products.
Specifically the comparison should focus on quality. I understand
that quality can be quantified in a variety of different ways, please
do your best.
If the results are not specifically geared towards health care forms,
that's ok. As long as the are related to forms in general.

Thanks for the clarification.
I am actually quite swamped at the moment, and am unable to work on
this question. However, other researchers are more than welcome to
work on it.
Cheers,
