I am an aspiring music producer. And i am in need of help finding a
concise and hopefully dedicated resource for finding independent
entertainmnet publicist. Are there any industry related periodicals on
this subject.
The Recording Industry Sourcebook,The Billboard guides and Mix master
directory haven't been much help.It would be great if you could find
names in states of Georgia,Florida,Los Angelos,New York where
obviously the music scene are more prevelant.
I also would need to know if possible, that they are credible and
currenly active within the industry of music. If at all possible.
I need a list of no less than 100 names and there clientele.
Thank you,Aaron. |

Hello -
I spoke to an entertainment publicist trade organization, a publisher,
and a rep from a publicist firm, and it looks as though a public list
isn't readily available. However, the publisher I spoke to actually
gave me his list of about 60 individuals with contact information. If
this is of interest, please let me know, and perhaps you can lower
your list price of this question.

Hello, Aaron:
This is a list forwarded to me by an industry insider. He was an A&R
person who has signed and worked with major acts. Most entries in the
list contain first and last name; if not that, then company name. It
also contains mailing address, phone number, and alternate phone
number (which may be fax). It also has an email address listed for
many of the entries (not all). Due to the length of the list, I have
no way of verifying these names; however, he tells me that most of it
is up-to-date, and that these are all publicists in the entertainment
field; some have greater ties to specific genres.
If you like, you can lower your list price to $80 for the list, and I
can post it as an answer.

Thanks for the consideration. Sure, $80 or $85 -- whatever you're
comfortable with. But I have to wait for you to change the price of
the question before I can post an answer.

(The file is called publicists.csv, and you can simply click on it to
download at the link above. It is in comma-delimited format, so it's
best opened with Excel.)

the list has a lot of contact names on it.Wow ! but the only request I
have at the present time is to ask you is there a another format that
you could send it in.I'm not very well versed in "xp pro excel" and we
I want to save it .It tells me that I might loose some features in the
document.
Looking at the document the information overlaps and printing it
doesn't allow me to zoom in (enlarge the text )and I loose info from
one page to the next.
Thanks, Aaron

Aaron -
The format is actually not in Excel -- it's in one of the most generic
and compatible formats you'll see. It's just raw text with commas.
You can ignore that message that says "you'll lose some features."
The way to fix overlap is to highlight all of the columns (those
labeled A .. K), by click-and-holding directly on the A, and then move
to the right all the way to the K. Then float your mouse over one of
the ENDS of one of the columns, and double click on that with the left
mouse button. This will resize all of the columns. In the picture
below, the "^" marks the end of the columns:
| A | B | C | D |
^ ^ ^ ^
When printing, choose File -> "print preview." When that screen pops
up, click the SETUP button. Change the orientation to "landscape."
Under that, change the scaling to "Fit to: 1 pages wide by 4 pages
tall." Then click on print.
If this doesn't work, let me know.
