Hi michael2, You can't connect the monitor to the switch box directly, but you can buy additional hardware to make the connection work. The monitor requires a digital signal and the CPU switch puts out an analog signal, so you need more than just an adapter to make physical connections of the right wires: you need a converter. For background on DVI-D interfaces, see: http://www.ati.com/support/connectors/monitorconnectors/dvidconnections.html http://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/dvi/dvicabletypes.htm Such converters are available, but they are not cheap. For example, Gefen Inc. has one for $299. http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=1310 The TV One Model 1T-VGA-DVI looks like it also will do the job. http://www.tvone.com/1t-dvi-vga.shtml There may be other such products. I did not survey the market in detail because that didn't seem to be within the scope of the question and I don't know if you even want to spend that much money to make the interface work. Additional Link A discussion of a similar problem, with links to the Gefen box from various retailers. http://www.spymac.com/forums/showthread.php?ppp=10&threadid=109402&sthreadid=&c=0 Search Strategy dvi vga dvi-d dvi-d vga adapter dvi-d converter "from analog" OR "from vga" vga to dvi converter If you need any further information, please ask for a clarification. --efn |

Thanks. Excellent answer. No, you're right, I wouldn't want to spend that sort of money on getting this to work. |
