Diseases of Heart 24,519
Malignant Neoplasms (Cancer) 13,742
Influenza and Pneumonia 2,508
Cerebrovascular diseases 1,854
HIV Disease 1,712
Deaths from homicide were 625, and 414 people died in motor vehicle
accidents. The total number of deaths this year was 59,651.
Comparatively, 2,801 people died in the World Trade Center attack
