First of all, unfortunately, they won't accept my researcher
application so I never get paid for the work I do, but I have a
special interest in this field.

Great question! As a Forensic Psychology major myself, I understand
the growing need for people like us (as well as how hard it is to find
programs).

Here is an interesting article about how the University of Texas at
Dallas seems to be on the forefront of the cybercrime field. They
have a new facility for this, which is very cutting edge, and are
working hand in hand with law enforcement agencies:
http://www.linuxsecurity.com/articles/organizations_events_article-4937.html

To quote the article, they do offer classes in the topic:
"The institute will be part of the university's Erik Jonsson School of
Engineering and Computer Science and will offer a cybersecurity degree
program that includes classes in digital forensics encryption and
wireless security."

Here's the information again, in the University's own words:
http://www.utdallas.edu/utdgeneral/news/cybercrime.html

Susan Brenner is a Law Professor at the University of Dayton, and
although it doesn't appear that they offer a cybercrime DEGREE, she
definitely has more than enough experience to be a good teacher for
you... here is her webpage:
http://www.law.udayton.edu/faculty/fa_display.asp?faculty=brenner

Here is a link to the Southeast Cybercrime Institute, formed between
Kennesaw State University, and the FBI, located in Georgia. They do
have a certification program:
http://cybercrime.kennesaw.edu/index.html

Just like my intended field of Forensic Psychology, there only seem to
be a few programs being started, and fewer are actually accredited...
Good Luck! (Btw, you have got me hooked on this field as well, I will
be looking for an emphasis in CyberCrime in grad school)

Additionally, the FBI's school, Quantico, most likely offers training
in CyberCrime (they train you in everything).. they have several
different honors internships over the summer for you to choose from
(have to have a 3.0 gpa and be at least a junior in College), and they
also have a high school program as well. You can find out more about
these opportunites at: http://www.fbi.gov/employment/intern.htm

Finally, as everyone tells me, if you're interested in the Criminal
Justice field, John Jay College of Criminal Justice (in New York City)
is the BEST place for you to be. Their website is
http://www.jjay.cuny.edu

In addition, I urge you to read Ipri's question about "Internet
Psychology" as there will certainly be some links of interest for you.

Hope this helped you, (please let me know if it did)... and Good Luck
with your intended career!

Rebekah, I can't thank you enough! Your reply was very helpful.

As you said, there seems to be a very limited number of schools that
offer this type degree; though, over the next few years I would expect
to see many more colleges get involved.

In my state of North Carolina, I know of two colleges that offer a
degree in CyberCrime, one being Southwestern Community College.
http://www.southwest.cc.nc.us./acadprog/cct.htm.

Thanks again for taking the time to help. Its too bad Google won't
accept your application. I would gladly pay you for your help.

My email is dmorehead@carolina.rr.com, if you or anyone else wants to
discuses Cyber Crime and any information you have on degrees in the
field, then feel free to contact me. I'm looking to talk to as many
people as possible that is interested in this or has any experience in
it.

Thanks a lot for your "thanks" - Yes, it truly is most unfortunately
that Google won't let "blow the dust" off of my application, so I have
to rely solely on my enjoyment with helping people find the correct
answer. If you're happy with the answer I gave, maybe there is some
way to tell them? :)

I also wanted to tell you to check out this link:
http://flash.lakeheadu.ca/~pals/forensics/ it's a great starting
place for anyone who is interested in Forensic Psychology (which tends
to overlap cybercrime, in some areas), and you may want to check it
out. Several of the Universities mentioned on these pages would offer
classes in what you're interested in as well.

Thanks again for letting me help you with this question, it definitely
peaked my interest in the subject as well!

My alma mater, the University of Tulsa, has a new program of study
that may be of interest to dmorehead-ga:

"The University of Tulsa has increased its national leadership role in
battling cybercrime by becoming the only American university that
offers five government-endorsed certificates in information security
... The five certificates are offered through TU’s Center for
Information Security, which currently has 19 students in Cyber Corps,
a pilot program sponsored by the U.S. government to attract
information security professionals to federal service."

Rebekah: Forensic Psychology does sound very interesting. I've
always had an interest in criminal profiling.

I'll defiantly recommend you to Google, as you have been very helpful
:)

Thanks also to pinkfreud for the information about Tulsa, that's
defiantly worth looking into.

I would also like to put in a word about the University of Tulsa, if
power of numbers might hold some sway. The Cyber Corps there is
growing and growing.

The main page is:
http://www.cis.utulsa.edu/CyberCorps/

And pinkfreud,
No wonder we always seem to end up in the same places...
I am on the University of Tulsa Robotics Team...

By the way:

Grants for the program were awarded to TU, the Naval Postgraduate
School, Iowa State University, Purdue University, the University of
Idaho and Carnegie Mellon University.

But TU is the only one, I am sure, with decent tuition. TU is one of
the least expensive private universities in the United States. We
just underwent a tuition hike, and I think that the tuition is still
like $14,500 a year. Pennies compared to other PRIVATE universities.

But then again, I am biased... :)
