This course will test your academic and practical approach to
developing a project. Such a project will be a reflection of your
experiences in college as well as in real life. Typically such a
project is inspired from ideas you have considered. That said, the
Technical Writing course is an important prerequisite for you Senior
Design Project. You will use the knowledge gained in that course to
justify, express and present your project. Typically you will be
presenting your project at different phases of its development. Such
presentations are delivered to your peers for review, critic and
partial grading. The final presentation is held in front of a larger
audience comprising of faculty, students and sometimes outside
entities with interest in the school.

Since this is your senior project, I assume you've done a number of
projects before this one. Can you tell us:

--what types of projects they were? I assume you wrote software for
telecom aps, but in particular, what were you designing?

--do you know what sort of senior projects have been done in the past
for this course? What are the other students in the class
contemplating for their projects?

--what do you think of the suggestion below for a project related to
VOIP? Is this in the realm of possibility for you, given your skills
and interests? If so, how can we help narrow things down? And if
not, perhaps you can explain why not.

Thanks...and best of luck.

Girumd --

There's probably not a more relevant topic in telecommunications than
the implementation of voice-over-TCP/IP, often abbreviated as VOIP.
Why don't you search for Google Answers with "VOIP" and pick a
specific topic for the senior project. Believe me, a lot will change
between now and December to make this VERY relevant!

Best regards,
